Alaska Day 1 (June 10)

Today I woke up at 3am to get ready for the trip to Alaska! Made it to the airport, through security, Starbucks and was at the gate by 5am. Plane took off at 6:15 plenty of time on the plane to watch some movies during the 6-hour flight to Seattle. We had about a 2-hour layover in Seattle not the best place to be stuck. There airport terminal was pretty small long lines for the bathroom and nowhere to sit at the gate. During the flight from Seattle to Anchorage, Jennah couldn’t contain her excitement. She wanted to track the flight and the time to arrival. Once we go close to anchorage and started seeing the beautiful mountains her level of excitement increased. She was practically jumping out of her skin with excitement.  Once we arrived in Anchorage we were able to quickly get our luggage, waiting for the ride to the hotel took forever! We stayed at the American’s Best Value Inn. They did have the best value, but that was the only thing they were the best at. It worked for one night and gave the 6 of us plenty of space for a good price. Kelle and I took an Uber into downtown to pick up the rental van and then headed back to the hotel. Once we picked up everyone we headed to the Costal Trail to take a walk and see the water. The trail was amazing about 12 miles long all along the water. After our walk we went to dinner at Gwennies Alaskan Restaurant it was ok not the best place I have been to, but it was across the street from the hotel so that worked for us. Then it was time to head back to the hotel and go to sleep I was out by 7pm, even though it looked like the middle of the day outside. This 20 hours of sunlight really makes it hard to keep track of the time of day.
