Day 2 – Day at Sea

September 19, 2021

We started the morning going to Cabanas for breakfast. Things are a little different at breakfast, when you go into Cabanas, they take you over the line. You cannot go down the entire line to see what all is offered. You go down the line telling them what to add and they pass your plate between the servers. Then at the end of the line you are given your plate. We decided to eat outside this morning.

French toast, hash brown, bacon and croissant

After breakfast we walked over to Cove Café and got a coffee. They were doing fun designs on top of the coffee. We decided to have our coffee outside and enjoy the view and decide what we wanted to do today.

We didn’t try the ghost but they sure looked fun. When we went back they were all gone.

We decided to go shopping and see what fun things they had. We had stopped by Saturday night, but it was a little busy. We started at White Caps to look at the Pandora Charms. Then into the other stores and see what new things we couldn’t live without. With all of these cancellations Disney gave us $400 of room credit so we had several things we were going to with this credit!

Bingo started at 11am, so we went and bought out bingo cards to try it out. We decided on the family pack which was on sale for $70 today normally $80. The family package was for 2 digital handheld bingo games that gave you 6 cards per game. You didn’t have to do anything the cards would make off you spaces as the numbers were called. Whichever card was close to winning would get shuffled to the top left. Also, when you have different games like make an X only those spaces are available on your digital card. You also received 2 sets of paper cards with 3 cards per game. I only got close to winning once. I think mom was close at least twice.

Bingo – electronic card you just sit back and they do everything. Your cards move around so the one closest to wining goes to the top left.
Mimosa and bingo!

Next stop was back to our room to change and head to Palo. We weren’t really sure what to expect because of Covid. From what I read in the past it was a buffet of options. This time you were given menus with different choices.

Entrance into Palo

I started off with a complementary glass of Prosecco (it was yummy).

Sea Food Antipasto- Alaskan Ming Crab Legs, Jonah crab claw, lemon marinated shrimp, marinated green lip mussels, spiced ahi tuna with Mayer lemon, saffron aioli, cocktail sauce
Then I had the lasagna, evidently the chef makes it like his mom did, it was amazing!
Then it was time for dessert, no surprise here I had the Tiramisu. It was made in a little chocolate bowl. In the back is a watermelon sorbet. The waitress thought we needed to try it

After lunch we decided we needs to change and hit Deck 4 to walk some laps! We were full and sleepy from all of our eating. After walking we went to the room to chill on the verandah and we watched part Mulan.

Cool rain storm in the distance.

Then we went to sit on deck 4 inside to people watch, but no one was hanging out to really watch.  Cinderella, Tiana, and Mulan came out to do pictures, so we watched that until it was our time to go and eat.

Dinner tonight was at Royal Court. We decided to get the drink of the day.

Drink of the day – high tide (Malibu coconut rum, Amaretto disaronno liqueur, pineapple juice, cranberry juice

Fried Brie with cranberry chutney
Chateaubriand – roasted filet steak- with crushed new potatoes with shallots, buttered green beans, red wine jus, bearnaise sauce
Grande marnier soufflé

After dinner we walked a few more laps and waited for our Whiskey Tasting to start. After walking we found some seats outside to relax on until it was time. We had the Whiskey Tasting at Skyline. Due to all of the Covid restrictions Skyline was only open for drink tasting and 20 people can attend a session.

Whiskey tasting – We learned about whiskey having legs and the move at different speeds (not sure why they move at different speeds).  There are different levels of color from lighter to darker.  The smell you are supposed to get different hints of different flavors. To me it really just burned my nose and I didn’t notice any specific smells.  Then you swirl some in your mouth and then take a sip. Again, you are supposed to be able to get different hints of things, but I didn’t. They talked about the taste hitting different parts of your mouth. I felt like it always burned in the back of my mouth. They shots if you bought on board the ship ranged from $10-37/shot. One really tasted like feet. Evidently the company does part of the fermentation process with dirt. It was gross. Even the $37 shot one did not go down smoothly. I would not order any of them, but it was fun to do.
