Day 4- Castaway (day 2)

DCL express – evals, bacon , sausage, grilled tomato and has brown

Mom and I wanted to get off early this morning and were able to get an 8:30-8:45 slot of getting off of the ship. We went and had breakfast down at Royal Court today. I had the DCL express – scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, grilled tomato, white toast, hash brown. We received an alert from Disney that it was almost time for us to debark, only 3 people ahead of us! As we walked down the stairs, we received the alert that it was our time to get off of the ship. When you open the app there is a green section that says it is time to debark. Since it was so early, we had to shop the cast members our app that we were green to get off. We grabbed some towels and got ready to start our 5K walk. The 5k was not officially going, but you could do it on your own and get a medal from the bike rental. Mom and I carried out stuff with us and when we got near the adults because we claimed and chair and then finished the 5K. The medals we received are the same ones we were given last February which makes sense, since they shut down not too much longer after we sailed the last time.

Disney Fantasy hidden behind the tree
Serenity Bay

We took the tram back to Serenity Bay (the adults only section). This was the first time we had ever used the tram. Once back at the adults’ beach we go into the water. I was able to walk a good distance out in the water. We relaxed in the water until it was time for a fruity drink.

Frose

Once back at our lounge chair Dewayne came around and asked us what we wanted. We knew we wanted something cold, so we let him pick what we were having. It had strawberries, Rose, and ice blended together. It was a nice treat.

Lunch was also in the adult’s section. This was even more limited; I just had a cheese burger and grapes. There were other options, but I didn’t want to eat too much. We then gathered our stuff and headed back to the ship. Today we decided to take showers and then go for coffee a little earlier.

Tram ride back to the ship

We had some coffee and then headed back down to 4 to sit on the lounge chairs. We only stayed there for a little while because it was a little hot and humid. Then back to the room to relax and finish watching Thor Ragnarok. After that we finished Hercules and I took a little nap. Then the sad part time to start packing up our stuff.

View of Castaway from our room.
I thought this was pretty with the storm going across the island.

For dinner we were in Animater Palate and had a seat right in front of one of the video screens. This is one of my favorite places because of the entertainment and the food. We have learned over our cruises to ask for certain things. Like with the bread most of the time we don’t like the spreads that are served, so if you ask for butter they will bring it to you every night.

Yummy bread!
Black truffle pasta purseittes-pasta purses filed with truffle-scented cheese and coated with a delicate champagne sauce
House salad with raspberry vignette – off menu item

We learned from Sherree our server that you can get a house salad any night if you don’t like the salad choices. They had several different dressing chocies.

Lemon-thyme marinated all natural chicken breast- on top of sour cream mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables and grain mustard jus
Cookies and cream ice cream sundae

After dinner we decided to go back to the room and finish packing. There is also a survey to complete about the cruise and the Halloween experience.

As we were packing, we looked out of the window and it looked like a cruise ship was headed towards us. As we kept movie the ship was coming into focus and we realized it was the Dream.  That makes sense since we just left castaway and they are headed there for the next 2 days. We were traveling at different speeds the Fantasy was traveling at 18.9 knots and the Dream was traveling at 10.9 knots. Another fun adventure even through it was different than what we were originally supposed to do this week (Eastern Caribbean cruise). It was still fun to spend 2 days at Castaway, 4 day cruises I think are the shortest ones I like. 3 days is really too short, but 4 days was good. Once you luggage was packed and they had their luggage tags, you then put them outside in the hallway. You will see them again once you arrive at port in their area that matched your luggage tag. This time we were purple Minnie.

The next morning breakfast is served in the same restaurant you had dinner the previous evening where you had dinner. I had the Route 66 – scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash brown, and toast. After breakfast they said they would call our luggage tags so people knew when to get off of the ship. Well we only ever heard them call 1 tag. So after sitting at our table for a while we decided to walk to the front of the ship to find out when we could get off. As we made it to the main atrium one of the boards showed that all luggage tags were cleared to disembark! We talked to another person and they said they hadn’t heard any other tags gets called. Hopefully they will get that worked out before the next time.

I found a fun ship in a bottle ornament. I may just hang it on my mantel before Christmas, so I can enjoy it.
