June 24, 2022 Venice to Aix-En-Provence

We closed the shutters last night before bed so at 8:30 this morning it was so dark. Took a while to get everyone out of bed and moving. Finally headed out to find some breakfast. We stopped at a little cafe and coffee and pastries.

Espresso and a pistachio croissant at Pane E Dolci

There was a little fruit and veggie stand across from the cafe so we grabbed some strawberries and blueberries. There was a clothing store that Kelle wanted to stop in. We found some cute things to wear for the rest of our vacation. We also stopped in a other shop to get some new fans. They ones we got in Firenze didn’t last long and we have been using them a lot. We stopped back at the hotel and grabbed our stuff and checked out and paid our city tax. We headed over the Piazza Roma to catch the bus to the airport. Last summer we had to go to a ticket machine and buy our tickets prior to boarding, so we did that this time. When the bus arrived and we were boarding there was a man with a machine selling tickets right before people got on board. The trip to the airport was quick only a 20 minute ride. It took us about that long to check in our bags once we arrived at the airport. Security was nice a fast took less than 5 minutes to get through.

We found a place to grab some lunch. There was a pasta kids meal that came with juice and donut. Kelle and I got a salad and Sandwich to share. Then it was 45 minutes before our flight so I got everyone moving. It was a little crazy at the gate because didn’t move for a long time. At 1:45pm the sign was flashing last call and we were still a good distance from the boarding doors. Finally we got on board and found our seats. Since it took so long to get on board we didn’t have to wait long until it was time for the flight to leave.

Walking off the plane in Marseille

We arrived in Marseille and headed to catch the bus to Aix-en-Provence. The bus wasn’t bus so we were able to spread out a little. The bus station was a short walk to the hotel up a hill. Jennah had 2 of the bags but did really well getting everything up hill. This hotel we have 2 rooms with a little fridge and cooktop. After getting to the room we reorganized and walked maybe 2 blocks over to the laundry mat to do our clothes. We taught Jennah how to do laundry at the laundry mat. Kelle and I also looked up train tickets to Paris since we hadn’t bought those yet. We found out the train tickets were all sold out! The only train option was a 12 hr overnight which did not sound like fun. So we ended up booking a plane flight with Air France since they had flights like every 2 hours between marseille and Paris. We looked Ryan air since that was cheaper but it didn’t get in until 9pm and that airport is a 2 hr train ride to our hotel.

After our laundry was done and we had dropped it off at the hotel we headed out to find a spot for dinner. We walked around a little until we found a place to eat. We found several Italian themed restaurants which was pretty funny.

Dinner at Le Piston. I had the burger piston (steak cache et fondue de tome de Savoie sue pain grille)
Bella had a chicken sandwich (Burger Poulet croustillant, cheddar fondue)
Creme Brûlée
Bella had the Taste au Citron, fine meringue, coulis de fruits exotique
Jennah had some chocolate and vanilla ice cream

After dinner we walked around some to look at different buildings and places to check out in the morning. We got back to the hotel around 10 pm. This trip we have 2 rooms that are sort of close. When we stand on our balcony we can see Kelle and Bella’s room. The only thing new could get on TV in English last night was CSI Miami.
