June 17, 2023- Orlando to Vancouver

Well today started off crazy. At 4am we were headed to the airport and got an alert that our 8am flight was delayed until 10am meaning we would miss our connecting flight in Denver to Vancouver. The only change we could make on the app was the date, so we headed to the airport to see what they could do. We arrived at the United luggage drop around 4:45am and went to the premier line to get some help. The man was able to rebook us on a flight on Air Canada from Orlando to Toronto. Then Westjet from Toronto to Vancouver. We got to Air Canada at 5:07 and the line was long. Luckily we got to keep our first class seat so we were able to go to the priority line and not have to wait. We dropped off our bags by 5:10 (the sign at baggage said baggage drop stop 1 hour before the flight- our flight was 6:10am) We headed to PreCheck and got through that line quickly. We arrived at the gate around 5:30am and boarding started soon after that.

Luckily we got to keep our first class seats. On Air Canada headed to Toronto
Meal choice on the first flight
Fresh fruit, raspberry yogurt, French toast with vanilla cream and fruit compote. I skipped the extra bread.

Made it into Toronto a few issues with the customs form. They kept printing blank so we had to go talk to someone and fill out the paperwork by hand. Then we made it down to our bags to collect them and waited for a while but no bags. So we asked since now it is 10 am and our next flight leaves at 11am. The man said oh no your bags will go to Vancouver you don’t have to do anything. Which in Orlando they told us we had to collect our bags. He said just go catch your flight if you bags don’t arrive they will get delivered within 24hrs. So up to the train terminal. We just missed the train and the next one isn’t for 7 minutes. It is now time 10:10am and we still have to check in for our next flight, get through security and make it to our gate. Fingers crossed!

So we made it to WestJet check in at 10:25am and they were like boarding closes in 5 minutes! They said the gate was just past security. So I sent mom ahead while I waited for the boarding passes to be printed then I ran over to security. I made it through security quickly, but mom’s bag got pulled. I walked to the gate since it was supposed to be closing, but was told we still have 10 minutes.

We got on the plane and walked all the way to the back! We are the row right before the toilets!! So much for our first class round trip ticket and of course this is the longer of the 2 flights. Man being in the back was very squishy. We made it safely to Vancouver and since we had already done Customs in Toronto we were able to head quickly down to baggage claim.

We got to baggage claim and no bags. Checking our apple luggage tags we could see they were still in Toronto. We filled out all the paperwork to get our bags delivered. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow. There were still several flights from Toronto to Vancouver Saturday and Sunday.

We headed out of the airport to catch the sky tram to downtown. That was nice and easy once we got off the train we walked over to the Pan Pacific.

We easily checked into the hotel room and decided to regroup before going back out. We hit a few souvenirs shops to find some things to wear tomorrow. Then we went to the Blarney Stone for dinner.

Shepard’s Pie and Beef & Barley Soup.

Nana and I decided to share the Shepard’s Pie and Beef & Barely soup. It was plenty of food for both of us and really good. Then we headed back towards the hotel and grabbed a few more items we needed.

We thought our bags were moving it showed they had moved from terminal 1 to terminal 3, but then they went back to terminal 1. Terminal 1 is the international terminal. Terminal 3 is what we flew to Vancouver.
