September 24, 2024 Lookout Cay

The beds in the room were extremely comfy, but around 1am the closet door started opening which would turn the light on and then slam close. The ship was moving pretty fast so I’m sure some of the rocking was messing with the doors but it kept waking me up. Not an issue I’ve had before.

Woke up a little before 7am and got ready to head up to the lounge for some coffee and snacks. There weren’t a lot of people in there yet which was nice. After having a snack we walked down stairs and went into Cove Cafe to see what snacks they had there and walked the Deck 9 a little.

It was starting to get warm!  We headed down to Deck 4 and walked a lap outside. We saw the ship pulling into Lookout Cay.

We headed back to the lounge to grab some waters and sunscreen before going to the room to pack what we needed for the beach.

We headed down the stairs to bring the walk to the island. It was hot outside, but luckily there was a breeze coming off the ocean. The walk took about 15 minutes with stopping to take some pictures along the way.

Once you get to the end of the pier there was someone there to hand out cold towels. There was also a place to stop and get water about half way down the pier. Once you made it through the entrance there was a small souvenir kiosk before getting on the tram. That was maybe about a 10 minute ride over to the main part of the island. There is still work to be done based on some on the work in progress area we passed. It does look like at some point a walking trail will be added for those people who want to want more.

Once of the tram it was time to hit the shops before they became crowded and see what new things were here before heading to the beach. I did find a new rash guard and then we started walking to the beach. Since it was our first time here and there are tons of board walks to help protect the environment it was nice having maps around. There were also a lot of really cute statues of different animals around.

Rush out Gush out

We saw one of the kids water play areas that looked fun. Lots of area to splash and play and still be close to the beach. After checking that out we headed over to the adults area to go in that beach. All the chairs close to the ocean were taken so we got some chairs up on the dune, but still had a view of the ocean. There were a few rain clouds hanging around so we decided to go in the water incase the rain started. The adults beach is the end of Disney property. Since people live on this island it can’t be a private beach so people could show up on the beach. There are other ships that also have their personal spots on the island. We could see a carnival ship from where we were and Princess cruises is supposed to have an area too. The water was really pretty. The sand had a little pink tint to it from crushed shells. It was pretty. A lot more waves than castaway since there isn’t a rock barrier to slow the waves but it was really nice. We stood in the water for a little while until it was time for the Junkanoo.

The Junkanoo is a parade in the Bahamas. It usually happens around 2 am since that is the coolest time of the day. After we watched the Junkanoo we went back to the adults section to grab some lunch. There were a few flies around the food area, so this part is still a work in progress. My issue was the counters are really deep. I couldn’t even reach the tongs to grab a burger! Luckily someone tall was in line and he was able to grab a burger for me. Same issue with the drinks. I had to lean on the counter to grab a cup and get a drink. I will have to try to family section next time maybe that is better for short people. We were able to find a table facing the beach and enjoy our lunch. No flies while trying to eat which was important.

After lunch we decided to head back to the ship. We didn’t do the nature walk on the island. Still learning where everything is located and it was hot. The walk back while warm was still pretty. I don’t think I’d want to hit the island in June or July, but I feel that way about all the islands. I’ll pass on being hot!

So we were fine going back to the ship to hit the pool. It was a good thing we went back it rained a little off and on during the afternoon. When we got in the pool on the ship it started to rain. Since we were on the ship all put stuff was in a covered area so we didn’t have to worry about it getting wet.

After some time in the pool we decided to shower and get out of our water clothes. Then time to hit the lounge and see what new snacks were out today.

Chocolate dipped Oreo. It was really yummy!

After some relaxation time in the lounge we decided to head down to O’Gil’s pub and do a craft. It was make your own bag craft for adults. They had some pictures you could trace or do your own thing. By the time we got up there you only had a few choices so we grabbed a picture and some sharpies and got to work.

Before heading back to the room we decided to see what characters were out in the Halloween outfits. We saw Daisy, Minnie and Clara-bell dressed up as the Sanderson sisters.

Pluto, goofy and Donald were also out in their outfits. I didn’t bring another Halloween shirt I just had my Halloween ears.

Before dinner we went back to the lounge for our drinks and a little snack before dinner.

I got a cheese plate again. I didn’t get a picture of my drink today. I had an Irish Mule. It was good.

Dinner tonight was at Animators. Mickey did his little walk through show at dinner tonight. Always cute to see how excited the kids get when he walks around.

Black truffle pasta purseittes- pasta purses filled with truffle scented cheese and coated with a delicate champagne sauce
Pennete bolognese- pennete pasta mixed with rich bolognese sauce garnished with shaved Parmesan reggiano and toasted garlic ciabatta
Cookies and cream ice cream sundae

Tonight was the trick or treat and Mickey Halloween party. We were going to go up and check that out but after dinner we were tired and decided to watch a movie in the room and went to bed early. So we missed out on the trick or treat fun upstairs.
