Ketchikan, AK July 9,2025

We decided not to book any tours in Ketchikan today and just walk around and check out a few of the museums. got a few things to try a breakfast. Mickey waffle with strawberries, biscuit and gravy, hash brown, chocolate chip muffin and yogurt. While I don’t like wasting food I do like having a few options.

Pulling into Ketchikan
It was a little cloudy this morning but not calling for any rain today!

Stopped in at the Alaska Discover Center to look around. Watched a video on the local history of the Tongass area. Then we started on our bingo game I created. It got everyone looking for different items around town. We headed over to Creek Street to see if there were any salmon swimming.

We went into a few shops and did see a few salmon in the creek. There weren’t a ton just yet but it was fun to look. We did see a woman catch a salmon.

We also saw an eagle chilling up in a tree near the creek street shops.
This creek the main salmon run during the season. We are about a week too early. There were only a few in the creek.
The water is also dark so you have to look really closely to see the few salmon that are there right now.
Jennah was happy because the person taking this photo had a chocolate lab that she was going to let after the picture.
After a few museums and some shopping we headed back to the ship for lunch. We ordered room service and got grilled cheese sandwiching and some cheeseburgers.
After lunch we headed up to deck 10 to enjoy the view. We did see what looked like a fire (at least there is smoke) outside of town.
I think the amount of stairs connecting the different levels of the town is really cool. Makes me knees hurt thinking about going up and down them everyday, but it is really neat.

It got up to 58 today and was partly cloudy. I’m just happy I had another trip to Ketchikan where we didn’t have tons of rain. In 2024 Ketchikan had about 132 of precipitation. With July having about 5 inches of rain.

Dinner tonight was in Tiana’s Place. I had a Bayou Mojito with dinner tonight.

Louisiana hot crab dip with sourdough croutons.
Cesar salad
Louise the alligator stopped by
Jumbo shrimp with jambalaya rice. The shrimp were huge!
Baked Alaska for dessert. the ice cream was thinner this time so it melted pretty quickly.
I also tried the tiramisu which I wasn’t a fan of the texture that was used to make the dome.
After dinner we dropped to get a picture with the cute backdrop.

We spent sometime outside looking for whales and saw a few but they were too far to get good photos with the camera.

Kelle and I went the spa and it was not crowded tonight so we got to spend a good amount of time in the heated lounge chairs.
