Boston January 30, 2020

This morning we started by walking across the street and grabbing some Starbucks before we headed down to the South End for breakfast. We walked down to Blackbird Donuts. They were good, not sure I would walk almost 30 minutes again to get a donut. It was good, but not the most amazing thing I have ever had.

Next we walked over to Boston Public Library. We started in the older section, it was amazing. There were so many murals and old books all around. Then we walked around in the new area it was cool, but a typical library.

After the library we went to Pandora, so I could get a new charm. 🙂 Then we headed over to Newberry Street and looked at the shops and walked towards Boston Public Gardens. The water was pretty cool it was partially frozen and there were some really fat squirrels running around.

It was almost noon and we had been walking around for almost 4 hours. I suggested we go and find some where to eat some lunch and sit down for a little while. We decided to walk back towards our hotel and look for something to eat along the way. We found a little place called Back Deck. I decided to have a grilled cheese sandwich. It was really good and it was nice to relax as we decided what to do next. We decided after lunch to go back to the hotel and relax for a little while.

we saw this cool old book store.

After doing some relaxing we went downstairs and had the Boston Cream Pie. Evidently the Parker House is where the Boston Cream Pie was created. So we had some dessert and tea at about 4pm while we decided where we would go fo dinner! Oh yeah and the Omni Parker house is supposed to be HAUNTED!!! Evidently the 3rd floor is haunted we are staying on the 8th floor.

The team pot felt like it was on fire!! I think they keep them in warmer it was really hot!

We walked to Quincy Market area to look at the shops. We headed over to the Harbor to enjoy the water. The sun was going down fast, so we didn’t wander too long near the water. We decided to head back to Quincy Market and decide on dinner. Since we just had dessert were weren’t really hungry and decided to walk back towards the hotel. We walked passed the new Sam Adams Tap room and at 5pm there was a line waiting for it to open. At 5:30 there was a line of people waiting to get a table! It isn’t very large, but there are a ton of places that had plenty of seating. Seemed silly to me to wait to go in there. Mom and I found Luke’s Lobster which is at the end of the block our hotel is on. We went inside and ordered the trio – lobster, crab, and shrimp small sandwiches. We also got a cup of Clam Chowder. The sandwiches were small about 1/2 a hot dog bun for each. They were a little smaller than I was expecting, but it was plenty of for for the 2 of us. After that we walked around the block before heading back to the hotel to relax for the night. We were laughing as we head the 6 pm church bells we thought it was at least 7 pm!!!

At about 10 pm we head an alarm and an announcement to head downstairs that there was an emergency. So we grabbed our room key, coats, and ID and headed outside. There were about 6 fire trucks starting to gather on the road. The ladder truck had extended their ladder up a few floors. We were not sure what was going on at first, people were in the lobby hanging out then they made us go outside. It was about 20 degrees outside while we were waiting to find out what was going on. After about 30 minutes or so we found out that there was a dumpster fire behind the hotel. The 6 trucks and setting up the ladder are all part of the training even if it is just an alarm that goes off. After walking up 8 flights of stairs (the elevator lines were really long) we were wide awake! It was a good thing we don’t have any scheduled activities this trip.
