Morning flights are always the worst when it is time to wake up! Up at 3:30 to get ready to head to the airport. Arrived at the parking spot at 4:45 and caught the shuttle to the airport. The lines looked really long and check in. It took about 15 minutes to drop off our tagged bags. When we arrived at security it was about another 10 minutes to get through there. I picked the slow line when going through the TSA check point and then having our bags scanned. It took about an a hour from when we arrived at the parking spot until we arrived at Delta Lounge.

Once at the lounge we gabbed some coffee (the Starbucks line outside the lounge was really long!) we also got some breakfast and relaxed before it was time for our flight.

Sadly our seats were right across from the bathrooms. Luckily I had the window seat so I was farther away from it than Kelle was. The flight was pretty easy and we go into Boston early.

20 minutes after our plane was at the gate we had our bags and were headed into the city!

We were able to check into our hotel at 10:30 am which was nice. We had views of the state house (gold dome) and Charles River.

We decided we needed an extra caffeine boost before deciding what to do for the day. So we stopped in at Tatte to get a drink and people watch. Then we walked through the Commons over to the State House.

We decided to walk around the State House and when we arrived they said a tour would be starting in 2 minutes. Guide tours are free so we decided to join. There were several interns sitting around waiting for people to show up for a tour. There were several prettying ceiling works of art and also murals throughout the state house.

There was no sessions happening in the Mass House of Representatives or Senate so we were able to go in and see the different areas. In the house they have a Sacred Cod that back in the early 1900s was stolen by some Harvard students and was missing for a week. There was an unspoken rule that business couldn’t be conducted without the Cod so nothing happened the week it was missing.

After tour the state house tour we went across the street to 21st Amendment to grab some lunch.

When looking for places to eat I saw the 21st amendment and people were talking about the onion ring towel. So Kelle and I decided to split lunch so we could get some onion rings. They did not disappoint!

We went into the Congressional Library & Archives to check out their Sacred Rebellion exhibit. Always important to find the free activities around the city!

We decided to head to Faneuil Hall but before making it there we stopped in at King’s Chapel. It was $5 to go in so we decided to check it out. There was information about different people who attended the church who were prominent in Boston.

Next stop we walked over to Faneuil Hall and arrived just in time for a Ranger talk on the 2nd floor. It was an area I had never been.

Then we walked around the seaport area before it was time for our Sunset Lighthouse Tour.

The Graves Light is no longer a working lighthouse. It was sold to a couple for just under 1 million and they are renovating the inside. The only place to live is inside the lighthouse.

In 2014 the bridge connecting Long Island to Moon Island which is then connected to Boston had to be destroyed because it was unsafe. The Hospital on the Island at the time was used as a treatment center and place for homeless people. Now it sits abandoned. The guide didn’t say if it was haunted but I feel like it probably is.

After the boat tour we headed to Quincy Market and go some dessert. I had the limoncello cake and Kelle got the carrot cake done. Then we finally headed back to our room at 8pm we haven’t been there since 11am when we dropped our stuff off.

We made it back to the room for a great sunset view.
